Main issues, aside from the looks, which is a matter of taste anyways, is 1) high CPU usage, even when 'dormant', 2) Favorites keep disappearing or reset.; 3) inconsistent search results.there's more but let's just stop there. But, I am used to having a Sidebar too, so dual pane apps like Commander One etc, without a sidebar don't appeal. I for one appreciate that the developer sticks to developing PathFinder. Last I knew he did most of the coding himself which tells me he is an extremely intelligent person. Coding a front end for a operating system is extremely difficult and I believe he has done very well keeping up with the Finder, adding additional features not available in the Finder. PathFinder is stable and of course has bugs as does.every. software package on the market.

First the Major Issues may not have been known until PF 8 was released. Developers does not have the ability to try their software on every different combination of hardware on the market.
This is why you often see a.01 release shortly after a major update. It is the developer fixing all the bugs found from the major release.I did say 'last I knew', not that it makes a difference how many developers are actually writing PF8. I do know it is a major undertaking writing a front end for any OS. The added features that PF8 brings to the Mac is the reason people purchase his software.
